Happy Birthday, Baby.

(We interrupt our regular programming to bring you this small but significant status update in the life of a dutiful little mommy and a beautiful little man called Little Mister Jibran.)

Little Mister Jibran is two years old today.

2010. Barely a few weeks old and registering the world. By sleeping.

2011. Oh the eyes are wide awake now. And fascinated by the idea of wearing ‘chammak dhammak’ clothes.

2012. Oh what a tangled web we weave. Thinking about the stresses of the world.

So there you are, son. You’ve grown in leaps and bounds (literally) and if I sit down to calculate the amount of moolah I’ve spent on your clothes, it’d be more than what I’ve spent in more than three years of shopping for myself. Designer or otherwise. Not only have you grown in size, you’ve grown in personality.

Every day you amaze me by how you act and how you perceive the world. Your face is what launches my day into a thousand seas all beginning and ending in the same frontier of the unknown. But I’m not afraid, and that’s what makes it all worth my while. I am so filled with love and affection for you, you little motay, gulbulay, bulbulay, adorable se ghubbaray that you make me feel weak and strong and happy and sad and all such Katy Perryish things at the same time. You’re perfect, my little kapoofypatooter. And you’re two years old today.

Happy birthday, my jaanay billoh. May you have so many, many more.
